Chris Widdop - Bike Mechanic/Trainer

Chris first joined MCF in 2017 as part of the STEP scheme as a mechanic/project worker. As the six-month placement came to an end Chris had the opportunity to train as a cycling instructor and started delivering Bikeabilty courses in schools across Leeds. He went on to work on the City Connect Bike Friendly Schools project as well as delivering both adult and disability training.

During the pandemic Chris put back on his mechanics gloves to work providing bikes for key workers and delivering Dr Bike sessions for all those people dragging dusty and rusty bikes from the garage. Getting his hands dirty again reminded Chris just how much he missed being in the workshop so he was delighted to hear MCF had a vacancy he could fill. Chris is currently supporting MCF's community work in Bradford delivering youth and community projects. Chris is also gaining new qualifications that will enable him to work in our City and Guilds training centre which is being set up at the Bradford Bikery.
