MCF Bikery Shipley

The MCF Bikery at Shipley started as a pop-up shop in 2015 which has developed into a valued community resource in Shipley town centre.

We sell a proportion of the quality refurbished bikes, refurbished in our prison workshops, at very reasonable prices, starting from £20. Stock changes regularly so we always advise people to keep popping in if they don't find something the first time.

All the money raised from the sale and repair of bikes via the Shipley Bikery helps to fund our prison workshops.

Our team at the Bikery is led by full time mechanic, John, supported by our part time mechanic Glenn and a fantastic team of volunteers. Check out our volunteer opportunities of you are interested in joining us as a volunteer.

If you have a bike to recycle, you can also drop it off with us. We can repair and refurbish as necessary before either putting it up for sale, to help more people start or continue their cycling or donating it to someone in need.

    What we do

Margaret Carey Foundation (MCF) promotes restorative justice in prisons. We set up and support prison workshops that provide trainees with meaningful work. We collect unused and unwanted bicycles and wheelchairs and bring them to the workshops for restoration and recycling. Once refurbished, all the wheelchairs and a proportion of the bikes are donated to people in need in the UK and overseas.
