Volunteer Customer Services Assistant - Shipley Bikery Volunteer Customer Service Assistants play a vital role supporting the more traditional shop activities at the Bikery. The time commitment is typically between 4 - 7 hours per week but can be arranged on an individual basis. Main activities/tasks: To assist and serve customers, providing a service of the highest standard. To assist with processing donated items and gathering gift aid information where appropriate. To be involved with the till operation and the handling of cash To record standard monitoring information required for fundraising applications To promote public understanding of the work the Margaret Carey Foundation delivers and the importance of raising funds through the shop. Working with the head mechanic to ensure each bike for sale is properly labelled Assisting the head mechanic to ensure bikes are stored in an organised fashion Assist with inventories and stock taking and assist with orders for new parts Assisting with the Bike Library loans Contacting customers regarding repairs, services or bike loans as appropriate Updating the MCF Bikery facebook page where appropriate Help close up the Bikery at the end of the day (tidying, cleaning, bringing in signage, washing-up) Experience/Skills: Essential Friendly and welcoming attitude Patience and awareness of customer needs and abilities Ability to communicate with staff, other volunteers and the public Ability to work in a self-directed manner Ability to work in a team Ability to remain calm in a busy environment Desirable Interest in bikes and cycling Commitment to seeing tasks through Ability to be thorough and work in a methodical way Mandatory Training provision: • Induction covering health and safety, fire safety, workshop layout and procedures Training opportunities: Retail Gift Aid Training Free bike maintenance training course up to Velotech Gold Other training as appropriate can be discussed To apply please complete the form and we'll be in touch shortly!
