Bike Sales and Repair Assistant - Shipley Bikery The time commitment is typically between 4 - 7 hours but can be arranged on an individual basis. Main activities/tasks: Ensuring each bike for sale is properly labelled Completing relevant paperwork for repairs and services Performing a maintenance check before any bikes is sold Performing repair and tune-up work following the Bikery’s bike repair process Ensuring each bike has received a safety check and a test ride Recording all new or second-hand parts used in repairs Ensuring bikes are stored in an organised fashion Occasionally stripping bikes which cannot be repaired Improve storage methods and organisation of bikes and parts Assist with inventories and stock taking Assist the full time mechanic in keeping the workshop tidy throughout Help close up the Bikery at the end of the day (tidying, cleaning, bringing in signage, washing-up) Contacting customers regarding repairs, services or loans as appropriate Updating the MCF Bikery facebook page Experience/Skills: Essential Friendly and welcoming attitude Patience and awareness of customer needs and abilities Ability to communicate with staff, other volunteers and the public Basic knowledge of bikes, components and tools or willingness to learn Ability to judge viability of refurbishing a given bike or willingness to learn Ability to work in a self-directed manner Ability to work in a team Ability to remain calm in a busy environment Desirable Knowledge and experience of bike mechanics Commitment to seeing tasks through Ability to be thorough and work in a methodical way Training provision: Induction covering health and safety, fire safety, workshop layout and procedures Other Training opportunities: Free bike maintenance training course leading to Velotech Gold Other training as appropriate can be discussed To apply for this position please complete the enquiry form and we will be in touch shortly!
